Gears2011 Technical Awareness Seminar
Thursday 17 November 2011
To be held at
The Defence Accademy
Shrivenham, Wiltshire, SN6 8LA
Message from the Gears2011 Chairman
As Chairman of Gears 2011, it is my great pleasure to invite you to the British Gear Association’s Technical Awareness Seminar.
This year we are delighted that the Defence Academy at Shrivenham are hosting our Seminar not only is this a great location, but the tour of the Defence Capability Centre should prove both exciting and fascinating for everyone who attends.
As ever we have selected papers covering a broad cross section of topics including papers containing information which can be immediately applied balanced with ones presenting us with a picture of what the future may hold. A specific example of futuristic methodology is the opportunities arising from the use of additive layer manufacturing. This may be a real eye opener for some.
However whilst the papers are important they are only part of the event. There will be ample opportunity to meet with individuals from our industry and share both experiences opportunities and challenges with like minded people. Networking is often underrated in the development of engineers and another valuable opportunity can come from being involved in the UK Standards Committees. The paper from Rob Fraser will explain how young engineers can engage with their colleagues both in the UK and across the Globe on the application and development of the Gearing Standards they use every day.
More informally, for those staying over prior to the Seminar, we will be having a get together at the DRA.
