British and International Standards Committees

The BGA is active on the BSI committees concerned with formulating gear design and manufacturing standards. The BSI MCE/5 Standards Committee has overall responsibility for some 35 BSI standards and contributes to the development and update of in excess of 40 ISO standards. Alan Thompson chairs the MCE/5 Committee which shadows the activities of the ISO/TC60 (Gears) working groups. The committee members, see below, also represent the interests of the UK gear industry at the ISO meetings and can thus influence the formulation of future international standards relating to gears.
