Additional Information provided by the BGA Member :-

Metal Improvement Company is the world leader in controlled shot peening, laser peening, superfinishing and coatings with over 50 years experience in the business and has 58 facilities world-wide. We service a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, agricultural, petrochemical, mining, power generation, and many others. Our primary objective is to identify and resolve metallurgical problems for our clients. Our strength lies in our knowledge of surface engineering and how components respond to surface enhancements. Gears respond very well to our processes with improvements in gear tooth root bending fatigue strength of between 20% and 50% being easily achievable. The process is applied most commonly to high performance equipment where it is not feasible to increase the fatigue strength by adding more material. This is especially true in the aerospace and motor sports businesses. In addition to these industries, in which the process is absolutely indispensable on modern equipment, shot peening can be a cost effect solution in many cases in which failures can be eliminated, higher power throughput can be achieved with existing designs or lighter weight components can be designed taking into account the fatigue strength enhancement available from the shot peening process. We have six facilities in the UK and our technical staff look forward to your enquiries. In addition MIC performs the CASE Process which is a combined layer finishing technique to reduce/eliminate surface pitting problems.
