GEAR MEASUREMENT DAY 2 |
|
Location: Design Unit, Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 7RU
Times: 9.30am - 4.30pm with refreshment breaks
Tutor: Dr Rob Frazer, Design Unit, Newcastle University
Registration: Forms should be returned to BGA by 16 June 2010
Event co-sponsored by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers
The seminar aim is to develop the interpretation skills of gear personnel who are involved with measurement processes. Using gear measuring instruments in a simple pass/fail process fails to maximise the investment made in measuring equipment and the potential to improve the manufacturing process performance.
Two areas are addressed in this seminar; the recognition of the cause of manufacturing errors by the careful interpretation of measurement results, and the control of the measuring process by using appropriate calibration procedures to quantify the measuring instrument uncertainty.
The Seminar covers:
Interpreting measurement results to identify the cause of manufacturing errors. A strategy will be presented and results from typical manufacturing processes presented. Bring your own results along for general discussion. Examples are available to test your skills.
It will be helpful to be familiar with interpreting lead, profile and pitch error charts. You are advised to bring a calculator for some simple sums. There will be plenty of time to discuss your own questions and needs.
Please note: If you wish to attend both Gear Measurement 1 and Gear Measurement 2, you will receive a discounted price, please refer to price information below.
