Seminar Programme

Surace Integrity Part II will start with a brief review of the definitions explored in Virtual Surface Integrity Part I (surface integrity, topography and residual stresses). Whereas Part I was guided by introducing each surface integrity property, Part II is structured by different manufacturing processes of the conventional gear manufacturing chain. Machining, heat treatment and finishing processes will be explored by presenting how each of these processes define the topography and induce residual stresses.

The Seminar will cover:

  • Brief review of Surface Integrity, Topography and Residual Stresses;

  • Surface Integrity induced by Machining

  • Surface Integrity induced by Heat Treatment

  • Surface Integrity induced by Shot Peening

  • Surface Integrity induced by Grinding
