5-AXIS CNC MACHINING SIG UPDATE

This SIG is chaired by Ben Cook from AMRC.

The 5-Axis CNC Machining SIG has been developed to address the growing interest BGA members have the use and capability of using general 5-Axis CNC machine tools to make spur and helical gears, bevel gears and splines. Please click here to see the objectives of the 5 Axis SIG.

LATEST UPDATE FROM THE SIG:

The 5-axis SIG will soon be sitting to review the outputs of the industrialists’ roadmapping event earlier in the year, where delegates shared and developed ideas related to electrification, lightweighting, smart manufacture, remanufacture and efficiency, which will shape our future research direction.

Meanwhile, AMRC are developing a gear machining technology showcase and will be seeking the SIG members’ input to the design and exploitation routes.

The next 5 Axis CNC Machining SIG online meeting is scheduled for 6th August 2020.

Joining the SIG is free to BGA Members – if you would like to register and attend the meeting please contact Kirsty in the BGA Office admin@bga.org.uk.
