The British Gear Association (BGA) has experienced a dynamic year in 2025, marked by strong participation and meaningful connections across the gear industry. Through a series of Technical Awareness Days (TADs) and exhibitions, the BGA has brought together professionals eager to share knowledge, explore new technologies, and build lasting relationships.
Technical Awareness Days: Bringing Industry Experts Together
In 2025, the BGA hosted Technical Awareness Days at two leading venues: Transmission Dynamics, a BGA member company, and Birmingham University, where partners Dynamechs and Kisssoft contributed. These events attracted over 50 delegates, reflecting a growing interest in staying current with the latest gear technology and engineering practices.
These gatherings offered more than technical updates. They created a space where professionals could exchange ideas and discuss challenges face-to-face. This kind of interaction fosters a collaborative atmosphere that helps solve problems faster and encourages innovation.
Exhibitions: Expanding Connections Across the Gear Community
Alongside the TADs, the BGA invested in exhibition stands at two major industry events: Drives and Controls and the NEAA Expo. These exhibitions provided opportunities to meet a wider audience, including suppliers, manufacturers, and end-users.
At Drives and Controls, the BGA stand became a hub for conversations about emerging trends in power transmission and gear technology. Visitors learned about the association’s activities and upcoming events, while members reconnected with colleagues from across the UK.
The NEAA Expo further extended the BGA’s reach, connecting the association with new companies and professionals interested in gear systems. These exhibitions reinforced the importance of in-person networking, even as digital communication grows.
The Value of Networking in a Changing World
As the gear industry adapts to new challenges and technologies, networking remains a vital tool. While virtual meetings and webinars have become common, the BGA’s events demonstrate the unique benefits of meeting in person.
Networking at TADs and exhibitions allows participants to:
Share expertise directly and ask detailed questions
Build trust through personal interaction
Discover potential collaborators for projects or research
Stay motivated by seeing real-world applications and innovations
These connections often lead to partnerships that drive progress and improve industry standards.
Looking Ahead: Hosting a Technical Awareness Day in 2026
The BGA invites companies and organisations to host Technical Awareness Days in 2026. This is a chance to showcase innovations, share knowledge, and engage with a motivated audience of gear professionals.
We already are working with ZF Services and Hewland Engineering to bring you TADs for the beginning of 2026. Keep an eye on the BGA website in the New Year for further details.
If your organisation wants to participate, the BGA office welcomes inquiries. Contact Kirsty and Lynne by email at admin@bga.org.uk to discuss available dates and opportunities.
By working together, the gear industry can tackle upcoming challenges more effectively. Collective participation strengthens the community and accelerates development.
