BGA exhibits at the NEAA Expo 2025

Updated: Sep 30

Yesterday Kirsty and I had the pleasure of exhibiting at the NEAA. Not only did we have the opportunity to showcase what the BGA does, as always we had the pleasure to represent Members' literature for those that sent them through. Thanks to Design Unit Newcastle and new members All American Gears for expressing interest. We hope you have some leads you can follow up from those that took your literature.

It always astounds us at how much innovation and fabulous work that is being developed in companies showcasing across the North East. It was a busy day and we seemed to talk non-stop! (No change there I hear you say ;-) - I think we had a link with almost everyone who came to talk with us!

We spent time with sixth form pupils from RGS who had recently been working on projects building robotics where gears featured heavily. We took their details and are putting them in touch with our gear experts to further their knowledge and understanding as they expressed interest in learning more about planetary gears. We are fortunate enough to have TR Transmysion, planetary gear experts as members. Check out their session online here https://www.bga.org.uk/digital-library?wix-vod-video-id=9e1fefc4c4b74332b1dafdb7750e3613&wix-vod-comp-id=comp-lnk7skcm

We had a visit from Bill Quay Primary School Year 5 pupils who told us all about their gears, pullies and levers curriculum - this is where Kirsty and I were able to talk about the BGA Primary Gears Workshops we offer.

We engaged with several training providers in the hope to collaborate and offer additional training to support their young apprentices in developing their gear knowledge as they complete their machining apprenticeships.

We had interesting talks with a lubrications company - more on that once we've had a follow up Teams call.......

And it's always great to see our Member Companies in action of course! Big shout out to one of our Director's Mike Fish from Dontyne Gears and Dontyne Systems for popping across to say hi.

During the day we held a competition to win a Tub of Cadbury's Heros by sharing with us your dream car.

Congratulations to Joanne from Newcastle College who's name popped up on our random name generator spin the wheel ! That tub of Heros is winging its way to you now!

Here's a selection of the dream cars our visitors shared with us:

Well, that's a wrap from us for this week!
