Tutor Denis Sexton from our Design of Experiments Course completed his PHD thesis this year and recently shared a photo of his guest lecture in Malaysia.
The Professor in charge of the MEng students at Nottingham University’s Malaysia campus (who are currently studying gears as part of mechanics) were interested in some background knowledge in gears.
Unlike the UK campus, they do not have any gear metrology experience or a dedicated metrology department, although they do have a small metrology lab (which is underutilised). Denis who was visiting family on holiday in Malaysia offered to assist and they were happy to accept the offer.
This is an example of all the hard work that goes into sharing expertise globally. Thank you Denis for sharing this story and your ongoing work in support of the BGA activities to keep gears and gearing on the map !
