The BGA are proud to continue to support the EURAMET Met4Wind project in 2023.

Please see links below to presentations from the Free On-line course: Optical measurements and measurement systems for gears and rotary axes arranged by VTT in Teams on 1st March 2023.

If you would like more information on how you can get involved with the project please contact Bjorn Hemming - Bjorn.Hemming@vtt.fi

Training: Optical measurements and measurement systems for gears and rotary axes

The mechanical components of Wind Energy Systems (WES) are exposed to high loads transmitted to the drivetrain’s components. Therefore, the requirements on these parts are high and this often results in tight manufacturing tolerances related to their size and mass. Reliable verification of manufacturing tolerances through accurate measurements is a critical part of quality assurance. This training course targeted industry personnel, and described the capabilities of various optical measurement systems as well as calibration strategies of rotary axes. The main focus was on optical measurements of WES components, but the procedures may also be transferred to other industrial parts.

The online course was hosted by VTT on March 1, 2023 and the presentations can be found here:
