It has been a bumper year for Technical Awareness Days at The British Gear Association in 2024. We held exceptional events with Sempre Group, SMT, Design Unit at Newcastle University and rounded off the year last week at Hexagon MI. It is fantastic to see so many people supporting these events.

Hexagon MI Technical Awareness Day 26th November 2024.

At its state of the art facility in Nottingham UK, Hexagon opened their doors to delegates where they demonstrated a complete closed loop approach to gear design, simulation and inspection.

The day covered:

  • Rapid reverse engineering of competitor gears and gearboxes

  • Web-enabled collaborative design

  • Simulation-led design - present and future

  • Collaboration between design, manufacturing and metrology

  • Understanding in-service performance using Digital Twins

  • Closing the loop - linking warranty data to design targets
