The BSI Standards Committee MCE/7 – Rolling Bearings is seeking new experts to join its membership and help shape the UK’s contributions to ISO/TC 4 Rolling Bearings and its subcommittees. These groups develop international standards across areas including:

  • Tolerances

  • Needle roller bearings

  • Insert bearings and accessories

  • Spherical plain bearings

  • Load ratings and bearing life

  • Linear motion rolling bearings

  • Ball bearings

  • Testing, measuring and evaluation

Current Priority Projects

Experts will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing work such as:

  • ISO/AWI 25994 – Spherical plain bearings — Self‑lubricating bearings of PTFE fabric liner type

  • ISO/WD 5753-1 – Rolling bearings — Internal clearance — Part 1: Radial internal clearance for radial bearings

  • ISO/CD 25260 – Rolling bearings — Insert bearing units

What’s Involved?

MCE/7 meets online three times a year, with meetings typically lasting no more than 2.5 hours. Between meetings, members review draft standards and submit comments—ensuring the views of the UK rolling bearings and wider mechanical power transmission industry are fully represented.

Individuals who wish to be more directly involved in drafting may also join the relevant international or European working groups. These groups meet more frequently and require a greater time commitment, but offer:

  • Valuable international networking

  • Direct influence on the technical content of standards

  • Insight into global developments affecting rolling bearing technology
