Time: 9:30am – 3:30pm (5:00pm Including University Tour)
Location: Birmingham University, School of Engineering, B15 2TT
Fee: Free to All

The British Gear Association are delighted to partner with BGA Members KISSsoft AG and Dynamechs Technology in collaboration with Birmingham University to host a joint Technical Awareness Day (TAD) at Birmingham University, School of Engineering.
In addition to the great schedule that KISSsoft and Dynamechs have put together, there will be opportunity to network with other BGA members and representatives from the Power Transmission industry.
The TAD is intended to be applicable to engineers who have an interest in the area of rotating power transmission design and analysis software tools.
Â
Event Details:
The day will explore the conceptualisation, design and analysis of transmission components and systems using the KISSsoft suit of design software tools. There will be several sessions covering the principal design challenges and how the core capabilities of KISSsoft can be applied to some real world applications - moving through from component level gear, shaft and bearing element evaluation to full system modelling and analysis. Focus will address both metallic and polymer gear design and analysis using the capabilities within KISSsoft to evaluate these cases.
Â
Format:
Several sessions, with presentations, live software demonstrations, interactive design cases using the KISSsoft software and application to practical case studies.
As part of the presentations and discussions, there will also be opportunity to get an insight into the core capabilities offered by the KISSsoft power transmission design software and future developments.
The event is being hosted in collaboration with Birmingham University and in addition to the KISSsoft presentations there will be an introduction of the key research activities and capabilities at Birmingham University School of Engineering, including a tour of the facilities.
Â
Agenda:
A more detailed day agenda will be published nearer the event, but an outline schedule for the technical presentations and sessions will cover :
Â
Introductions from BGA , Birmingham, Dynamechs Technology and KISSsoft
Introduction to KISSsoft Software and capabilities
Application of Software to Gear, Shaft and Bearing System Design and Analysis
Walk through of system level design and analysis for industrial and complex drive trains
Interactive sessions and case studies for metallic and polymer drive trains
Introduction to Birmingham University Technical Activities and Tour of facilities
Lunch and refreshments provided throughout the day.
