The British Gear Association (BGA), in collaboration with The British Standards Institute (BSI), is hosting a Virtual Member Focus Session on Gear & Rolling Bearing Standards on 26 November 2026 at 2pm. The session is designed for BGA Members who work with mechanical power transmissions in any practical, technical or commercial capacity, from design and production through to inspection, procurement, quality and compliance. But where exactly do standards come from? Join this session and find out.
The session will explore:
What standards are, what they are not.
The relationship between British and ISO standards.
Different types of standards documents.
How BSI and ISO committees and working groups operate.
How standards are created, reviewed and updated.
What to do when you identify a problem with a standard.
How BGA members can influence future standards.
Who Should Attend?
The session will be relevant to anyone who works with gears and wants a clearer view of the standards that affect their work. It will also be valuable for members who want to understand how standards are created and how they can help shape them.
By attending, BGA members can gain practical insight from standards experts, learn more about gear-related standards, and see why working groups play such an important role in keeping standards relevant to industry needs.
