June promises to be a busy month here at the British Gear Association (BGA), with a range of in-person and online training courses alongside the much-anticipated BGA Annual General Meeting (AGM). Whether you are a gear manufacturing professional, engineer, or enthusiast, these events offer valuable opportunities to deepen your knowledge, connect with peers, and stay updated on industry developments.

Gear Shaping and Hobbing Course in Stockport

One of the highlights this June is the new four-day Gear Shaping and Hobbing course hosted by Mini Gears in Stockport from June 1st to 4th, 2026. This hands-on course is designed for professionals who want to master the essential techniques of gear manufacturing.

Participants will explore:

  • The fundamentals of gear shaping and hobbing processes

  • Practical setup and operation of shaping and hobbing machines

  • Troubleshooting common issues in gear production

  • Best practices for achieving precision and efficiency

This course is ideal for engineers and technicians looking to improve their skills or refresh their knowledge in gear cutting methods. Mini Gears’ facility provides a practical environment where attendees can see real-world applications and engage directly with experienced instructors.

Online Training on Heat Treatment of Gear Steels

On June 10th and 11th, we have an online course via TEAMS focusing on the Heat Treatment of Gear Steels. Heat treatment plays a critical role in defining the strength, durability, and performance of gears. This course covers:

  • Different heat treatment methods and their effects on gear steels

  • How to select appropriate treatments for specific gear applications

  • Common challenges and how to avoid defects during heat treatment

BGA Annual General Meeting in Nottingham

The BGA AGM will take place on June 18th at Cadence in Nottingham. This event is a key date for members and stakeholders to review the association’s progress, discuss industry trends, and plan future activities. Attendees can expect:

  • Updates on BGA initiatives and projects

  • Networking opportunities with industry leaders

  • Discussions on the Gear Transmission Industry as a whole

The AGM is a great chance to engage directly with the BGA community and contribute to shaping the future of the gear industry in the UK.

Design of Experiments Course Online

Rounding off the month, the Design of Experiments (DOE) course will be held online on June 24th and 25th via TEAMS. DOE is a powerful statistical tool used to optimize manufacturing processes and improve product quality. This course will help participants:

  • Understand the principles of experimental design

  • Learn how to plan and analyse experiments effectively

  • Apply DOE techniques to gear manufacturing challenges

This training is suitable for engineers and quality professionals aiming to enhance process control and innovation.
