Chair’s Report
Dear Member,
2025 was another fantastic year for the British Gear Association, I am proud, to present this Annual Report to the Annual General Meeting of our Association. I am delighted to confirm that in 2025 our organisation delivered another successful year with an increase in Membership, and a positive financial performance. This is all thanks to the continued support our staff, colleagues and BGA Members.
The British Gear Association Membership continues to attract the best and brightest in the Gear Industry. In 2025, we welcomed 12 new members into the Association. This growth not only showcases the BGA's appeal but also opens doors for collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing that elevates the entire sector.
2025 was another great year for BGA Training, with over 1000 delegates participating in our Knowledge Transfer Sessions. This not only highlights the rising interest in our programmes but also confirms our dedication to delivering high-quality educational experiences.
In addition to impressive participation, our Training Programme expanded to include online training “Design and performance rating procedures for plastic gears” course, created and led by industry expert Damijan Zorko and Borut Cern from RD Motion and “introduction to Surface Integrity” with Ronnie Rego from our Brazillian partners Engrena ITA. New in person training included a successful partnership with Helios Gears to bring their in person “Gear Fundamentals of Parallel Axis Gears” course to the UK and the introduction of a Gear Manufacture course with Dr Paul Bradley of Dynamechs.
In 2025, the BGA had a great year filled with enthusiasm and collaboration through our Technical Awareness Days (TADs). More than 50 delegates joined us for TADs at BGA Members’ Transmission Dynamics, state of the art facilities and with Kissoft at Birmingham University. Increasing participation in these events emphasises the importance of staying updated on the latest developments and trends affecting the industry.
These events have not only showcased advancements in the Gear Industry but have also served as a vital platform for networking among peers.
In 2025 we were proud to fund the next stage of a Research Project on “Non-Involute Gear Testing,” with BGA Member Dontyne Gears. The project reaches its conclusion soon, and the report and recorded presentation will be available to download from in the Member Only section of www.bga.org.uk.
2026 is already looking like another fantastic year for the British Gear Association, as we develop and improve our training offering with a brand new training platform (Cademy) and the introduction of “On Demand Courses”.
We held a very successful Technical Awareness Day with ZF in April and are looking forward to more networking events over the year.
Finally, I would like to offer my sincere thanks and gratitude to all those who contribute to the ongoing success and growth of our organization. Most obviously to all the course tutors and Committee participants who contribute significant time and effort into preparing and delivering courses and attending meetings, but particularly to Kirsty and Lynne in the BGA office without whose efforts to chivvy and cajole myself and other members of the team, none of this would happen.
Thank you again for all your support.
Go to the publications section of the BGA Website to download the report.
Yours sincerely,
David Radley.
Chair of The British Gear Association.
