May is set to be an great month for members and non Members of the British Gear Association (BGA). With four events on the calendar, it’s a prime opportunity to dive into key learning experiences while connecting with leading innovators in the gear industry. The BGA is dedicated to promoting growth and collaboration in gear technology, and these upcoming sessions showcase that commitment.


New for 2025 - Virtual Introduction to Bevel Gears


Date: 6th & 7th May 2025

Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm

Platform: TEAMS

Tutor: Peter Wright & Fabian Sprenger

Fee: Non Member £350* / BGA Member Free


The month starts with the Virtual Introduction to Bevel Gears, a new course for 2025. This course provides a thorough understanding of bevel gears, their applications, and their vital role in modern engineering. Participants will benefit from expert-led tutorials and interactive discussions, enhancing both knowledge and skills in gear technology.


Virtual Introduction to Rolling Element Bearings


Date: 13th, 14th & 15th May 2025

Time: 10am - 12:30pm

Fee: BGA Member Free / Non Member £350


Next is the Virtual Introduction to Rolling Element Bearings, a session diving into the specifics of rolling element bearings and their crucial role in machinery efficiency and reliability. This three-day online course allows attendees to absorb a wealth of information from the comfort of their desk.


This course is designed to empower delegates with the latest insights and practical techniques in bearing technology. Whether you are a seasoned expert or new to the field, expect valuable resources to broaden your understanding.


Virtual Member Focus Session with Engrena ITA


Title: VIRTUAL MEMBER FOCUS SESSION WITH ENGRENA ITA

Date: 14th May 2025

A highlight this May is the Virtual Member Focus Session with Engrena ITA. This session marks an exciting collaboration between the BGA and Engrena ITA in Brazil, aimed at advancing gear technology research and fostering international partnerships.


Participants will gain insights into Engrena ITA’s extensive partner network, which drives diverse collaborations focused on innovation in the gear sector. This is not just an opportunity to learn; it's a chance to engage with thought leaders and build professional connections that could lead to future partnerships.


Virtual Member Focus Session with LUMO TAX


Title: SUPPORT FOR INNOVATION WITH LUMO TAX

Date: 21st May 2025

Time: 2pm - 3pm

Platform: TEAMS 

Fee: Free to All


BGA encourages all members, especially those eager to maximise the tax relief from R&D activities to join this session.


The session promises to enhance your understanding of several different relief options and introduce new perspectives and opportunities. Both Roger and Myself will attempt to de mystify some of the preconceptions within this area of tax relief and when done correctly the outcomes for the business far outweigh the monetary relief of the claim.
